Throughout the winter months, temperatures and wind chills fall to extremely low temperatures. During these times, DO NOT leave pets outside in the cold. Make sure animals that have outdoor housing, can access unfrozen water and food. Make sure these animals have DRY, protected bedding/housing. Do not be afraid to cover pet ears and paws when they go outside, to help prevent frostbite. Before walking on salt covered surfaces, smear a small amount of petroleum jelly on paw pads before going out. This should be removed before returning to indoors. Use common sense! Pets/animals are subject to the same weather related maladies that we face.
